We've altered our standard cake decorating workshop for the holidays. Learn how to make your cake look like a gorgeous present wrapped with a bow!
Always wonder how professional bakers get their cakes so perfect? Come and learn the secrets to their success. We will teach you the basics of cake baking and the tricks to make your cake extra special using simple decorating tools.
By the end of the workshop you will have learned all the techniques and skills necessary to produce your own beautifully bespoke and personally designed cake to celebrate any special occasion.
Our professional tutor will teach you how to make the perfect buttercream filling and cover a cake with sublimely smooth fondant icing, make an icing plaque, pipe greetings using specialist nozzles and how to crimp edges for a decorative finish. You will also learn to make your own Gerbera flowers and butterflies from petal paste and how to use edible glitter and food colourings effectively and many other decorating tips and tricks.
We provide all the equipment and materials necessary for you to leave MakeMe with a beautifully decorated 7 inch (18cm) cake filled with buttercream and jam. You can take your gorgeous creation home in a cake presentation box together with a booklet of recipes, instructions and tips and tricks for successful cake decorating at home.

You’ll learn the basics of biscuit baking and how to cut and decorate your biscuits using a variety of techniques. We’ll teach you how to flood the biscuits with icing at home and the techniques to colour, roll and cut fondant icing so your biscuits look perfect before you pipe the finishing touches in royal icing using a variety of piping nibs to achieve different effects. We also have an abundance of sprinkles, glitter and other edible embellishments for you to unleash your creativity.
At the end of the workshop, you will take home six of your own beautiful creations together with workshop notes that will enable you to recreate what you learned at home.
All materials and equipment (including aprons) are provided and tea, coffee and snacks are included.* This workshop would make a lovely girlie get together!

Come along to MakeMe and learn the techniques to make your own festive, fresh wreath using traditional materials. Pine, fir cones, dried limes, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, chillies, ribbons and Christmas baubles will be available for you to choose from. Our expert tutor will teach and guide you to produce a wreath that you would be proud to hang from your front door.
The workshop includes all equipment and materials along with tea, coffee and homemade Christmas mince pies and cakes provided by the Hot House Cafe. Come and get into the festive spirit of the holidays at MakeMe.
MakeMe Craft - Decopatch Workshop – For Kids and/or Adults

Try the new addictive craft that’s come to the UK! Decopatch is the modern simplified version of the traditional French craft of ‘decoupage’ which means to ‘cut out’. Learn to assemble, paste and varnish special Decopatch paper that you’ve cut out to decorate an object. You can keep it simple or develop beautiful and complex designs. The only limit is your imagination!
At MakeMe’s standard Decopatch workshop, you can choose to decorate various MDF letters, papier mache animals (scottie dogs, elephants, cats, penguins, lizards, giraffes and more) or a variety of objects (stars, hearts, boxes and letters) with a fabulous collection of special papers. For Christmas, we have ordered in some fabulous Christmas themed items.
Once you’ve learned the technique, you will want to cover EVERYTHING – and you can! Decopatch papers and the special glue/varnish can cover virtually anything – furniture, glass, stone, cardboard and metal. Learn how to transform objects in your home and take them from ‘blah’ to ‘wow’!
Tea, coffee and homemade cakes are included for adults and juice/squash, popcorn and snacks are included for the younger set.

Our expert tutor will help you explore the marvellous world of metallic decoration to add magic and sparkle to your own Christmas cards.
Learn how to use real metal leaf, metallic transfer foil and other metallic media. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with colouring and texturing techniques. Samples will then be cut, stitched and punched out to be combined with other backgrounds. Our tutor will also pass on handy layout tips before assembling your unique Christmas card collection to take away. Take home a workshop pack which will include details of all you learned during the workshop plus details of suppliers so you can make more cards in your own time.
