Meditation with a Western flavour - ‘Getting into it’

Experience required: None meditation image
Tutor: Dr Mariette Jansen
Course length: Four one hour sessions
Cost: £ 55.00

A series of 4 classes where you learn how to switch off, de-stress, relax and meditate. Lots of different techniques, music, positions and visualisations.
‘Give your stress wings and let it fly away…….’

During this course you will learn more about the body-mind connection and how to positively use techniques to disengage. The principle that forms the basis of Meditation with a Western flavour, is that the practice needs to suit a busy lifestyle and therefore is:

  • Time-efficient
  • Practical (able to practice in most circumstances)
  • Effective

By learning these tools and by understanding and experiencing how we can focus and calm ourselves really easily, this course will help to improve your life!

Anecdote: a scientist wanted to research the meaning of meditation and visited a Buddhist monk. The monk offered him a cup of tea and when that was accepted he started to pour the tea in the cup. When the cup was full, the monk carried on pouring. The scientist jumped and shouted, stop, the cup is full. The monk looked up and said: ‘The cup is like the mind: when it is full it cannot receive anymore…..

Our minds are full; overfull and overflowing. And it can be really difficult to stop the mind. The techniques in this course will teach you how to do that. As a result, you will be calmer, more focussed, sleep better, feel more rested and energised.

The following elements are part of the course:

  • What is meditation
  • What is mindfulness
  • Energy patterns in body and mind
  • How does meditation work
  • The Power of Now
  • Tips on practicing
  • Practical exercises

Each session has a similar build up: we start with a relaxation exercise, followed by teaching and discussion, and then 3 or more exercises. All exercises will be handed out on paper to be taken home.

What others say about the meditation class:

‘A wonderful calming experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to chill out and connect with themselves. Highly recommended.’
Sue Bown, Director of The Coaching Zone

‘The most valuable hour in my whole week. Well done, Mariette. Another brilliant course.’  Steph Sullivan, Optimal Health Solutions

‘Mariette has a magical way of sharing and teaching meditation, so it can become part of everyday life. I use the one nostril breathing technique regularly because it is so simple and effective!’
Lisa Parkes, Lisa Parkes Coaching

‘Very, very, very relaxing as always.’ Ann Holliday

Super Kids - Secret Ingredients to Self Confidence Workshop

Age Group:
8- 15 years old (choose session for appropriate age group)super kids logo
Tutor:
Lisa Parkes
Course length:
2.5 hours
Cost:
£29.50

School life and friends may give your kids' confidence a knock. This mini workshop with Lisa will reveal tips and advice on how to build your kids' confidence back up again so they are resilient to life. Your kids already have so much to contend with so this is a quick and simple way to help make growing up easier.

A fun & creative workshop that helps shy and introvert children discover that confidence is a way of being that can be learnt with a bit of practise.

Through interactive games, role play, creativity, exercises and discussion, your child can learn to role model themselves on how self confident people think, behave, walk, stand and speak.  They also learn the power of their smile and how their thoughts can make them weak or strong.

This workshop will mean different things to different children.  For some it will be new and create awareness.  For others it may mean taking action and finding a way to make it part of their every day lives.  Whatever it is, your child will come away feeling as if they've discovered something new about themselves and their life.

The word on the Street; what others are saying about coaching with Lisa:
I didn’t like being asked to read in front of the class, but now I raise my hand and ask if I can!’ Alysha, aged 13

‘Thank you for teaching me the breathing techniques. I used them when I was nervous about taking my ballet exam and it worked.’ Eve, aged 12

‘Lisa is very nice and she helped me to be more confident. I’ve decided to be our class representative to review the school’s bullying policy. I’m glad I got picked to come. Thank you for your time and helping me learn new things.’ Sam, aged 13

'Thank you so much!! You have been a pleasure to meet and I can't tell you how grateful we are for the difference you have already made to our little boy! I will be recommending you to anyone with similar issues to ours. It's so nice (and important!) to have someone like you available to kids who need a confidence boost.'
Mrs E, Hersham Surrey
